Game Nets

A game net is a specialized tool for landing fish once they're hooked and tired. Unlike nets designed for other purposes, game nets are built to handle the weight and thrashing of fighting fish while protecting your catch and your tackle. This category covers the different types available—from hand nets to boat nets—and explains which designs work best for different species, water conditions, and fishing situations.

The articles here answer practical questions about selecting and using a game net: what size and mesh work for the fish you're targeting, how net depth and handle length affect your success rate, when a net with a rubber bag makes sense versus traditional knotless designs, and how to position yourself for a clean landing. You'll also find information about caring for your net so it lasts through many seasons of use.
